Does it really? Think about what the "Christians" have made a name for themselves with:
1. The crusades . . .what a great idea! in the same way that voldemort was great.
2. Indulgences . . .the first record of Christian capitalism?
3. Evangelicalism . . . "we preach so that we don't have to do"
again, you are limited to one reasonably sized reply.
future topics could include:
Paul, the first Evangelical?
C.O.G. for those who can no longer be labeled "evangelical"
an opinion left unchecked is soon considered truth. - the pete

i'm referring to the nonobvious . . .obviously the name "Christian" was derrived from the word Christ . . .my point is that this was all that Christianity has as is foundation, being named for the belief in Christ (or as i will refer to it from this point on, the "magic words" of paul) not in being Christ-like.
Many people who call themselves "Christian" believe in the church and are church-like (meaning, they follow church culture.) They reference Jesus only as a buzzword or an afterthought. I no longer refer to that religion as "Christianity", but rather, "Churchianity". I think it fits better.
Like with ancient Israel, there is a faithful remnant of true Christians within the larger organization, but it's the large and unfaithful organization of Churchianity that gets all the publicity.
