Teacher Suspended For Displaying Foreign Flags in Classroom
In other education news, a seventh grade geography teacher in Colorado was suspended earlier this week for displaying flags from Mexico, China and the United Nations in his classroom. An obscure Colorado state law prohibits the display of any foreign flag in public buildings and schools. Temporary displays of other flags are allowed but the school principal did not consider the display in Eric Hamlin’s classroom temporary enough. After the case made national news, the school said Hamlin could return to the classroom as long as he keeps the flags up for no more than six weeks.
I can go with the fact that the teacher broke a Colorado law. But why does Colorado even have this law / how do they get away with having this law when it is against free speech? Do we really have free speech?
The government needs a reset button.

i agree it is a rediculous law...
On this one, we agree. That's one dumbass law.
Dude taught World Geography; displaying flags from around the world is totally appropriate in that context.
Whether or not the law itself is stupid (which I don't know since I haven't read the actual law), this particular interpretation / application of it is.
Flags suck. We shouldn't have them. At all. Especially those dorky "holiday" flags people in planned subdivisions like to fly.
We should burn 'em. Burm 'em all. :)
As long as we can burn them in class. You know... for the kids.
